Ingredients:
1 cup toor dal
500gms of methi

3 sps sunflower oil
Lemon sized tamarind paste
3 pods garlic
pinch of turmeric
5-7 pinches salt
pinch of hing
1 medium sized tomato
1 medium sized onion
1 sp urad dal
1 sp mustard seeds
1 sp jeera
3 red chillies
3 green chillies
5-7 curry leaves
Method:
- Soak toor dal for 10mins in warm water.Then cook it under pressure till 3-4 whistles.
- Meanwhile prepare seasoning as usual with mustard seeds spluttering in hot pan of oil,urad dal,jeera,red and green chillies in it.
- Add onions,garlic,curry leaves,tamarind paste,tumeric and hing to it,fry for 2mins.
- Finely chop the tomato and add it to the pan.
- Then add methi leaves washed and separated to the onion mix.Now pour a small glass (200ml) of water in it and allow it to cook for 10mins on low flame,closing with a lid.
- Now mash cooked toor dal adding salt to it.
- Mix evenly the toor dal mash to the boiling methi pan.Turn off the heat.Close the lid for 2mins.
- Good combination with rice and salted chillies / uppu mirchi.
- Can enjoy regularly with other side dishes especially maagaya milusu.
